Alwoodley Allotment Society

News, views and advice on allotment gardening in Alwoodley, Leeds.

How the Good Life finally came to Alwoodley.

After six years of pleading, badgering and schmoozing various councils, solicitors and planners, Alwoodley Allotment Society’s new site finally opened for business in October 2016.

Situated on former farmland off Eccup Moor Road, the plots are offered primarily to residents living within the Alwoodley Parish boundary, but consideration is also given to applicants outside the area if plots remain untaken.

A variety of sizes are available ranging from 12.5 x 10m half plots to smaller areas for those wanting to grow their own fruit and vegetables, but unwilling or unable to devote the time to a larger plot.

Popped up yesterday for a frosty morning sunrise at the allotment. Feel so unbelievably grateful to have such a haven to escape to.

The Society also has designed specifically for disabled gardeners as well as allotments for local schools and societies wishing to sample the fresh air, exercise and social interaction that owning an allotment brings.

For more information on how you could be enjoying the good life, email your details to the Membership Secretary at enquiries@alwoodleygrowers.org.uk.
