The Warmer Homes Project Was a Huge Success!

Alwoodley 2030 received a grant from the Parish Council to run the Warmer Homes Project last autumn/winter, and the Parish Council recently received an update and photos to share the results.

They ran the programme at two different venues, St Barnabas Church and Room 17 at Allerton CE Primary School. Each one had the same 3 sessions:

1. Behavioural changes people could make in their own homes to save energy and improve comfort. Examples included using lower laundry temperatures, LED lighting, shorter showers etc

2. Draught proofing workshop run by Wrapt Homes. A practical session letting people get hands-on experience of fixing their own draughts. Examples included filling holes with silicone and applying draught proofing tape around loft hatches. Materials were all from Wickes so people would be familiar with what they needed to buy for their own DIY jobs at home.

3. Practical session learning how to use a thermal camera. They brought 2 thermal cameras to the session and talked about what they were showing.

The Parish Council is keen to support initiatives that save money, save energy and support local people to come together and learn. We encourage your organisations to apply for grants.
